| The Country |
This is mixed farming
country centred on Exeter, extending to Axminster in the east,
Tiverton in the North and Crediton in the west. Meets in the east of
the country are by kind invitation of the Cotley and Axe Vale Hunts.
A portion of the former Holcombe Rogus Beagles country and a small
area of Taw Vale Beagles country is due to be included in the Stoke
Hill country once a re-organisation of local harehunting countries
is completed. |
| History |
The Pack was started
by the late Archie Pape in 1912 when the Silverton Harriers of which
he was the Master started to hunt only fox. Hounds were kept
with the Silverton until 1927 after which Mrs Pape carried on for
three seasons. The pack was then dispersed, but Dr RN Craig
purchased some of the old pack and carried on until 1945 by which
time he was also Master of the East Devon. The pack was again
dispersed but was reformed in 1952 and has been uninterrupted since.
Hounds returned to the Silverton Foxhounds kennels in 1987. |
