History of the South Herts Beagles

The hunt was founded in 1926 and hunts in Beds, Herts and Bucks. The boundaries of the country are those of the old Hertfordshire Hunt and the country is shared with the Aldenham Harriers.  Urbanisation has taken its toll and the huntable country is now almost exclusively in the North of the hunt's territory within an eight mile radius of Luton.  It is a varied country with some downland, vale and woodland but is predominantly arable.  Hares are very plentiful.
